Academic Rigor You Can Actually Inspect.
Every IFIS primary student is issued the Cambridge textbook for their year. Homework goes out every Thursday and comes back marked every Monday, kept in a file where you can see it. Every term ends with an assessment and a detailed progress report. Nothing about your child’s progress is left to a parent’s guesswork.

01 - The Syllabus
Your child gets the book. So do you.
Textbook-driven instruction is the backbone of the Cambridge approach, and it is the simplest promise a school can make to a parent: there is a defined body of knowledge, it is printed, and your child works through it. Every IFIS primary student is issued their own copy of each core text*. You can open it at the kitchen table and see exactly where the class has reached.

02 - The Week
Thursday Out. Monday In. Marked.
Homework at IFIS is consolidated into one weekly set rather than scattered across five evenings. It is issued every Thursday and collected every Monday. It comes back marked, and it lives in a homework file your child brings home - so a term’s worth of work, and a term’s worth of teacher feedback, sits in one place you can open at any time.
03 - The Term
Four checkpoints, in order, every term.
A term at IFIS is not a stretch of lessons ending in a grade.
It runs to a fixed sequence of checkpoints, each with a different job - one to apply knowledge, one to catch problems early, one to measure the term, and one to tell you plainly how your child is doing.
EARLY TERM
The termly project
A single brief that pulls English, Maths and Science together and pushes past the textbook - research, build, write up, present. Students get the opportunity to showcase finished projects to visiting parents.
MID TERM
Mid-term assessment
A checkpoint, not a verdict. It exists to find the gap while there is still half a term left to close it — and to give your child low-stakes practice at sitting a paper.
END OF TERM
Term-end assessment
Measures progress across the full term’s syllabus in English, Maths and Science. Results are tracked term over term, so movement is visible rather than inferred.

Issued to every family, every term. Attainment by subject, effort, and what specifically comes next - written by every subject teacher who taught your child, in a class of 8 to 12.
04 - Beyond the Core
A research-based holistic curriculum, at one inclusive fee.
Rigour in the core subjects is merely the floor, not the ceiling. Everything listed below is timetabled into the school day for every child - not sold as an add-on, not run as an after-school upsell, and not the first thing dropped when exams approach.
Second Languages
Every student takes a second language of their choice alongside English.

Holistic Subjects
STEM
Hands-on investigation that runs alongside the Science textbook rather than replacing it.
Music
Instrument time (Drums, Keyboard, Guitar, Bass) in the school’s own music studios, timetabled weekly for every year group.
Coding
Block-based logic in the lower years, moving toward real syntax and project work by Year 6.
Dance
Choreography, performance and the confidence that comes from standing in front of an audience. Opportunities to step on the big stage for talented individuals!
Art & Creativity
A dedicated art room, taught as a discipline with technique and critique, not as free time.
Sports
An indoor sports hall on campus, so Physical Education (PE) runs on the timetable no matter the weather.
PSHE
Personal, Social, Health and Economic education
Taught as a timetabled subject across Years 1–6 on the PSHE Association’s thematic framework - relationships, health and wellbeing, and living in the wider world, including money and responsibility. It is where a child learns to disagree well, ask for help, handle a setback and think about the people around them. We treat those as teachable, assessable skills, because the students who lead well later are the ones who practised early.
05 - What Makes The IFIS Structure Unique
None of this works in a class of thirty.
Marking every set of homework by hand, spotting the gap at mid-term, knowing every student's strengths and writing a report that says something specific and useful - those are only possible at small class sizes. This is why we are the only international school in Singapore with these numbers.
